Hans Backenroth was born 1966. He studied jazz, classical bass and ensemble at the Royal Academy Of Music in Stockholm.
Since 1991 Hans has been been playing with a majority of Scandinavian jazzlegends like Arne Domnérus, Putte Wickman, Monica Zetterlund, Alice Babs, Svend Asmussen and Kjell Öhman. For almost 20 years hans was a member of Sweet Jazz Trio wihich made 15 recordings and toured 10 times in Japan.
Hans has played with a lot of international jazzartists: Toots Thielemans, Roger Kellaway, Larry Willis, Kenny Barron, James Moody, Clark Terry, Harry ”Sweets” Edison, Buddy DeFranco, Eddie Daniels, Harry Allen, Doug Raney, Ernie Watts, Ken Peplowski, Scott Hamilton, Junior Mance, Ed Thigpen, Benny Green, Martin Drew, Danny Gottlieb, John Surman, Lewis Nash, Horace Parlan, Champian Fulton, Bobby Durham, Bobby Shew, Richard Boone, Rebecca Kilgore, Frank Vignola, Maria Schneider, Norma Winstone, Veronica Swift, Deborah Brown and the list goes on… Hans has participated on ca 160 CDs.
Since almost 30 years Hans done a lot of teaching - both double bass, electric bass, improvisation and jazzensemble - at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm between and at the Music College in Piteå.
