Rayne's musical journey, initiated at the age of 8 with the clarinet and later transitioning to piano, led him to the Federal University of Uberlândia, where he laid a solid foundation in music education. Graduating at 22, he delved into teaching at the Uberlândia Conservatory of Music, simultaneously immersing himself in the local music scene, recording, and performing across various genres like Bossa Nova, Samba, Baião, and jazz.
Building upon his undergraduate experience, Rayne pursued a master's degree in jazz studies at the University of Iowa in May 2019. Not one to rest on his laurels, he extended his academic pursuits, earning a second master's in music education in August of 2022. Currently, in the second year of the Ph.D. program in music education at the University of Western Ontario, Rayne's research has evolved to focus on jazz, popular music, and Brazilian popular music.
His commitment to both the practical and academic aspects of music shines through, as he continues to contribute to the musical landscape through performance, education, and scholarly inquiry. Rayne's multifaceted expertise positions him as a dedicated musician and scholar, blending a rich array of musical styles with a deep commitment to advancing the understanding and appreciation of music education.
