Alayna Ringsby is a jazz pianist, educator, arranger and composer based in Bloomington, Indiana. She holds a degree in Music Education from the University of Northern Iowa and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Jazz Studies and Performance at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music.
Born and raised in Iowa, Alayna has performed regularly throughout the state with her own trio and multiple duos. She has also performed with ensembles such the historic Des Moines Big Band, Iowa’s NOLA Jazz Band, the Iowa Women’s Jazz Orchestra and Sextet, and has toured South Africa with the University of Northern Iowa’s Jazz Band One. Since arriving in Indiana, she has quickly become a part of the local jazz scene, performing in various small groups across the state, playing in ensembles under the direction of Brent Wallarab, Wayne Wallace, and Greg Ward, and co-leading a Thelonious Monk tribute band titled Ono-MONK-opeia.
