Nick Salcido is a New Orleans based upright and electric bassist. He has performed with a wide variety of artists including the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Adonis Rose and the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, Herlin Riley, Shannon Powell, John Boutte, Irma Thomas, Trumpet Mafia, Cristen Spencer, Laurin Talese, Eric Wortham, Arnetta Johnson, Christopher Stevens, and Larry Lambert, and has played at festivals and venues across the US and abroad such as the Montreal Jazz Festival, Toronto Jazz Festival, Jazz Ascona Festival, BRiC Jazz Fest, Philadelphia Folk Festival, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, SF Jazz, and the Kimmel Cultural Campus. He is a regular touring member of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and maintains a busy schedule of performances and recording work at home in New Orleans.
He also holds a BA in Music Composition from Bates College, and a MM in Jazz Studies from Temple University’s Boyer College of Music and Dance.
