Horace Alexander Young is a 21st Century multi-woodwind artist whose combined saxophone and vocal style revisits the sensitivity and grit of Lester Young and Cannonball Adderley, and the smoothness and grace of Nat King Cole. His intent is to leave a mark in both the domains of instrumental and vocal Jazz, as previously explored by Louis Armstrong and Chet Baker, and do so from a platform based on "the road less traveled". In addition to this now-present focus on his personal artistry, he has (since 2010) also been a founding member of The NBS Hornz -Young (woodwinds), Andre Hayward (trombone) and Myron “Big Jack” Jackson (trumpet), which have made a strong impact on several notable recordings. While he has spent most of his 40+ years in the music business playing, arranging. composing and recording music for other artists, he has also been heavily involved in education (since 1975) and is presently focused on mentoring the next generation of musicians who are seeking career development and guidance. Stay tuned.
Horace Alexander Young performs on Selmer Paris Saxophones and uses Vandoren Reeds, Mouthpieces and Ligatures exclusively.
